Pants....I love pants

Well fan club you are not going to believe it - I have almost finished my viking outfit. I just have to adjust my handles after I do the top hem (as I had to take it in at the front and back - cos I lost 12 kilos from morning tea to after fighter practise yesterday.....not really I think I just stretched it getting over my juhungers) Then its done (Oh I have to hem the bottom of my apron but thats another job for me peddles and the esky).

I am also going to push the mark and say......Im also going to cut my roman out tonight and draw the lines where I need to sew so I can do that in Roxby.

The most exciting thing of all though.....I HAVE GOT THE KNACK OF MAKING PANTS - HOORAY!! I managed to whip up two pairs last night (not including cutting I did that at fighter practise on the back of Ferret's armour bag) So I now have two new sexy pairs of pj pants haha. I am going to make some pants for festival (to go under the viking to keep me warm) and maybe if I like Peddles I will make some for him haha.

Im so excited haha

Im gonna do it damnit!!

As you could all imagine - I didnt get back on the horse the other night.....Im going to have to name my sewing machine, I think along the lines of a very common 1960's womans name so everytime I make a boo boo I can say some stupid 1960s comment rather than saying something rude like the trucking woman thats within.

Ok so here is my sewing list from last time - I am blueing the things I have done:

Hem my blue dress
work on decoration for both blue & red dress
1 more underskirt
make fitting sleeves - I promise I have tried and they just wont work - lucky I have left over hot pink drill from the fooles feast - this is half blue as one of the girls here helped fit a sleeve for me
chemises that work - I will actually take my time on these ones....Im sure Im jinxed Ok so I havent made them but I have the easy pattern to make them now and I should complete one tonight
Aprons - attempted - they officially stink
14th C Gard for camping - that means muliptle outfits - just gonna go with roman
1 Viking outfit - Ok so hopefully I dont jinx myself
1 Roman outfit - gonna make it this week
Heraldic dress - made the design
Maybe Russian - researched it - ie looked at babs and went ohhhh thats so pretty
A Venetian Dress - hooray hehe - michelle said she would just lend me hers haha

So have I actually done much - NO but thats ok it kinda looks good on paper. I am doing that stuff tonight as in finish the blue and white tunic then thursday night if babs is up for it we might go material shopping for the roman and if I see any wool or linen to make more roman as we dont plan on coming back to civilisation for a few months now (around dec/jan) so I wont have the access to material shops so that should be heaps of fun!!

Anyway have to get back to pretending that I work

Love to you all!

Unpicker 3, Fiora 0, Babs the Saint

So we managed to do what I said we would do (ie cut things out)....then I think I got a little toooo adventurous - I tried to sew it together. Babs was amazing and got majority of the thing together all I had to do was attach some length to the sleeves by sewing two bits of material together, then I had to add the triangly bits at the bottom....thats where it went bad

1 for unpicker - both sleeves I attached the incorrect way so had to unpick both of them then resew them

2 then once babs had put the sleeves in the correct way I then proceeded to sew three bits of material together instead of two....more unpicking.

3 I managed to put 3 seams in correctly for the triangly bits then on the fourth I broke the needle cos I was toooo lazy to move the pins a bit out of the way.

At that point I asked was it time to give up tonight (ie it was 11pm) and magic to my ears Babs said yes. I also went on to ask if I had tested our friendship - im just glad she has got to the point where she laughs at me as she knows how useless I am haha!

So I am going to hop back up on that machine tonight and get that last part done then I am going to move onto the chemise (which is cut out but just laughing at me knowing how much I will have to sew and resew that one haha.

Thought you all might find my story amusing at this hour of the morning!

I DID SOME SEWING

Hello World

You are not going to believe it - I DID SOME SEWING LAST NIGHT

Thanks to Babs who is helping me make some sexy viking. In normal Dave fashion he then proceeded to tease me that I hadnt actually done any sewing (ie the sewing machine stayed in the box) but I have cut my whole apron out and its all ready to start on tonight. What he doesnt get is that it took me months to simply cut out my other dresses. (Sorry Jane Doe haha) but that obviously means im improving to get it cut out in 25 mins

THERE IS STILL HOPE FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

Curry Fullness

Hello World!

Im doing my best interpretation of procrastinating and because I have been ignoring my blog but really enjoying reading everyone elses I thought I should get my act into gear (Jane Doe I can hear you saying "and so you should" haha)

Ive had a huge few weeks and besides tidying my sewing room that has been all my sewing haha. HOWEVER I will soon be sewing with a few close friends here which will be sooooooo nice. I plan on sewing but having a really good giggle in the meantime. I honestly keep pinching myself at what really good friends I have made here - I am so lucky and that was reinforced when I attended a hens night a couple of saturdays ago and yes I was a bit fat prude Maverick was just tooooo much for me to handle. He really lost me when he was doing butt flexing pushups - I cant wait to see the video haha.

Now I should actually explain the pic above the girl in red is a friends sister (who is also becoming a friend - go tassie girls haha) she is wearing my first completed dress but as you can see she is 6 foot shorter than me haha - I didnt realise that she was turning up in that dress as I had left it with the sister so they could make a pattern for her but it did really well in the meantime. The girl in the right used the pattern Jane Doe made for me (which I didnt think she would mind :)) haha double chins ANYWAY she made it out of brocade then proceeded to pearl it then made out there sleeves now good on her that is amazing - I did explain that it was peasant gear. The little tacker on the right hand side is the red dresses nephew and a bit of a photo tart but still heaps of fun to dance with. Now ME in the finally completed BLUE DRESS - hooray I have been waiting so long for this moment haha (I can understand why people had given up haha) I still have to put the green on it that Jane Doe picked out but it will happen.

I dont think any explaination is needed with the next pic - we are being very cute not that Im bragging. These pics were taken at the potluck feast and La Petite Ball. We had such an awesome time we danced most of the night which was so much fun. Gareth cooked a goose which I am so embarrassed to admit but the barbarian in me just went OHHHH YUMMY haha.

I dont know if its because I have eaten curry but i feel so content at the moment - Im really sorry that you are getting cramps Jane Doe from crossing your fingers with my job front but hopefully the ball will start rolling as of tomorrow which will mean until we become BHP employees (I so wanna be a BHP employee) young peddles and I will be living in a caravan - hehe it has an ensuite though so I wont be flashing running down to the shower block all the time.....the funniest part is that it doesnt worry me which is so odd, we will have our house back here so we can always return for holidays. The biggest bonus out of all of it though is that we will be together and it will mean in the future we will be set up sooner so we can do the things we want more regularly which will be so nice!

I have to go and pack my bag as I am off to Roxby tomorrow 5.5 hours drive but its all up through the flinders rangers way and I also get to see the Loch Ness Monster australian desert style in one of the lakes on the way - Mum and I had such a giggle at the thought of it tonight!

I promise the people who read this 3 pax (thanks finn for joining the fiora fan club) will all be notified with me jumping up and down screaming with excitment on the phone when I get a job (Im being positive saying "when" rather than "if" - FAKE IT TILL YA MAKE IT!!)

Speak to you all soon!!

Saturday is blog day

Hello Everybody,

Well I havent been able to come up with the pictures this week as our resident photographers family has had life hit them very hard so the suspense will just have to keep growing.

I have had the hugest week with everyone wanting to catch up with Peddles before he leaves which is Monday morning 5am now - I am glad we get to have Sunday arvo (so he can clean the house before he goes haha) So no sewing got done BUT.......

I GOT TO DRIVE A BIG HUGE DUMP TRUCK TODAY as a job trial/work experience (ie if I get the job GREAT if I dont when I approach companies about taking me on I can say YES I have spent time in dump trucks. I had heaps of fun - can you tell?? It was quite funny as there were two types of guys on the site - 1's that were really shy and behaved themselves or 1's that were really brash and out there and then would apologise for swearing...it was nice.

Tonight we are going to some friends house that are setting up their backyard to be a monastry (I can tell but a medieval backyard thinga) So they invited us for tea but to come at 4.30pm so we can see the garden first - so that should be very cool. Its really funny their medival personas are she is a red headed viking shiela and he is a brown hair really cool light blue eyed scotish chat they are loads of fun though.

So thats all Ive got for you all this week - Oh did I mention we set up our "sewing room" no????? did I forget to mention that I HAVE A SEWING ROOM!! nothing exciting it just means we got organised allocated one room for sewing bought some plastic boxes to store material in put a table in there to put my sewing machine on (its huge so I can do all my cutting on it also) So now if you ever feel like it...you can pop around and come and sew at my house!! hehe.

Love Fiora
PS Baggy Trousers - your hat rocks
PPS Jane Doe - I want the blue pair of shoes in your pic :)

Fiora the High Visibility Princess

I have been "told" that I must update this - to my defense I promise I did write a post last weekend but I decided that I was toooooo grown up to leave it and it was not what my blog was meant to be about (ie I was having a bitch)

Onto fun stuff - why do you ask am I a high visibility princess???? I passed my truck lisence last sunday which is very amazing so this week we have been out buying me a very very bright orange outfit so if I have trials or get a job I already have an outfit to start with (I know that is a bit presumptious getting the uniform before the job but I do have a trial next saturday).

As people close to me know I have a love for PJ pants (they are normally my uniform for sewing in....actually to do everything in) but I have cut my first pair out this week. I am still trying to figure out the sqare in the crutch part (for this pair I think I will forget about it - I have cut them big enough and the pair that I cut it from doesnt have a sqaure bit so Ill put it to the sewing machine today)

Also other exciting news - we have tables and chairs now - we have been pretty minimilist lately, which hasnt worried us but it meant I had nothing to stand on while Peddles did my hemline....thats right girls the man knows what he is doing when it comes to sewing (more so than me haha)

So today in happy innilgard there is the barons championship, a potluck feast then a ball. Peddles and I had no intention of going to the barons championship (I just didnt want to, but he originally had to work) but because the weather has been so bad work was cancelled for him we decided not to go. He is currently cooking a goose (no that wasnt a typo) we are really getting into the whole medieval cooking thang. This one is how to cook a peacock by stuffing it with onions and apples so will let you know how it goes.

So the potluck feast should be good and I am really looking forward to the dancing stuff. The woman running the ball is awesome (she is the one that reminds me of Jane Doe) We went and stayed at her manificient property last weekend (it was like going to a B&B). Colette is awesome she does costume, made her own period tent, does awesome cooking, runs dance classes and is being authorised for heavy fighting today. Her husband and Peddles have been friends for years so Im hoping that the friendship with her will keep getting better.

So I am going to be flying solo from Monday week as Peddles will be working in Roxby again. I feel much better about it compared to last time - I now understand how things work here a lot better - im not being melodramtic or anything but the roads are crazy here so hopefully I wont get lost as much.

Anyway dont fall off your chair Jane Doe but I am going to go and put my blue dress on so Peddles can do my hem - I will get this dress done damnit (there wont be any decoration but it will be done haha)

Promise to take pictures xx

Id like to take 3 days annual leave from reality please

Ive decided I would like three days away from reality.....Monday I was screaming for it, Wednesday I would have sold my grandmother for it, now it is Friday I am feeling a quiet sense of fulfilment but a holiday would still be nice haha.

Yesterday we had our first day of double income again - hooray!! I went around and paid all our bills, rent etc and also set up weekly credit card payments so I dont have to worry about it all anymore so we should be looking to start being debt free in 40 weeks (fingers crossed!!!).

So as of Friday I have still not achieved any sewing - TYPICAL!! This Sunday morning if I am not truck driving Peddles and I will have some forced "at home time" so hopefully I should have my blue dress hemmed. I HAVE to go to Port Adelaide Spotlight to get some black and white checky drill for my heraldic dress and tableclothes or else!! So if those two things get done, I will feel as though I have achieved something (small things small minds haha)

Anyway better get back to pretending that I am working haha!!

Am I aiming for the stars?????

Hello!

Today during lunch I made a rough list of things that I want to achieve here goes.....

Sewing things (note the use of bullets rather than number bullets haha)
  • Hem my blue dress
  • work on decoration for both blue & red dress
  • 1 more underskirt
  • make fitting sleeves - I promise I have tried and they just wont work - lucky I have left over hot pink drill from the fooles feast
  • chemises that work - I will actually take my time on these ones....Im sure Im jinxed
  • Aprons
  • 14th C Gard for camping - that means muliptle outfits
  • 1 Viking outfit
  • 1 Roman outfit
  • Heraldic dress
  • Maybe Russian
  • A Venetian Dress - hooray hehe

Non Sewing things that I want to do

  • Collate receipes for medieval receipes
  • Haybox cooking - making a haybox and cooking with it at home
  • Marshalling - would like to become one
  • Setting ourselves up with correct period crockery and cutlery

So am I going to achieve this.....YES. Ive decided its nothing that I cant do and I am willing to put a time schedule to each outfit - with the job I want, I will be working 2 weeks on 1 week off so if I am able to set an outfit to six weeks I think I should be able to do it ask me on the 28th July haha. This six weeks is for finishing off projects that I should have finished and am very slack about.

How do I know if I will get these done in the time frames????? Cos I know if I dont nag myself about it my very favourite friend who reads this would laugh so hard its worth getting it done hehe.

Anyway its 4pm Friday and I should start packing my stuff up so I am more than ready to go at 4.30pm then spin on my chair until its 4.30pm haha. Am going sewing tomorrow at southern garb and gossip and am really looking forward to that!! Will let you know how it goes

Fiora xx

I think Im working

Im using this blogger more as a point of "Ive written it down so I have to do it now" for all my projects and goals that I want to do. So if I can actually log back into this tonight (I dont really know how to haha) I will list some of my goals off before I get to go to the Barional meeting - hooray they are so much fun (better then Jerry Springer)
